Changing the World- One Film at a Time
April 22, 2008
Can films change the world? Probably a little, at least, but its a start. On Saturday, May 10, 2008, for the first time will be Pangea Day. This will be a four hour program on TV and streaming video for the web available in many countries around the world.
The stated purpose of this event is to help make the world more inter-connected and to use the media to help people to "humanize ‘the other’ ". Twenty short films were selected from thousands of submissions and they will be shown along with images of live audiences around the world and short talks by the kind of wonderful presenters for which TED.com is known. This looks to be a wonderful application of imagination and creativity to begin and support change.
As the Pangea Day website says: "Films can’t change the world. But the people who watch them can."
Check it out and come back and leave a comment about your experience.
